Staying Up-to-Date With Coaching Changes

Fans want the best results for their programs, which often drives high expectations and frequent coaching changes.

After all, just this season alone there has been over 20 head coaching changes throughout several different conferences. This includes some big names like Matt Rhule, who left Temple to take on the job at Baylor. Let’s not forget Tom Herman, who left Houston to stay in state to coach at Texas. How about Lane Kiffin, who departed from Alabama to take the helm at FAU? Well, you get the point.

Whether it’s our team or not, it’s important to be up-to-date with all of the latest coaching happenings. There are different resources out there to make that a whole lot easier than having to dig deep with research. Using these resources below will allow you to see who is on the hot seat, and which programs have recently made changes with their coaches.

College Football Pool: CollegeFootballPool.com offers a simple and easy way to see which coaches have left and which have emerged as the new head coach. Not only does this site tell you who is in and who is out, but it provides a description of how it happened below the table, along with the exact dates.

The details behind the coaching change have to be one of the best features of the site. CFP provides a short, but detailed summary of how the change came about, who is coming into the season, as well as that new coach’s past.

Along with coaching changes, CFP provides daily rankings, weekly picks, odds, and much more. Although their rankings didn’t make our top power ratings list, they do provide a good set of data which include variables such as power, strength of schedule, and power/position change.

Coaching Search: Coaching Search has to be one of the most consistent and reliable sources when it comes to the latest news and rumors. Chris Vannini, the Managing Editor is on top of his stuff and doesn’t miss a beat.

Vannini provides his audience with daily ‘News, Notes & Quotes’, where he recaps all of the day’s latest news with a wide range of topics around the entire College Football landscape.

One quality feature on the site is the ‘College Ticker’, which is updated daily. These everyday updates include promotions, coaching changes, and anything else related to coaching updates such as an illness. Vannini gives everyone updates on every team in the NCAA, as well as the NFL.

Coaches Hot Seat:

Besides news and the latest gossip, Coaches Hot Seat provides exactly what it’s title is, a breakdown of which coaches are on the hot seat. In fact, when you check out their website, you will immediately be bombarded with 30 faces of college coaches, all of which are on, well what else but the hot seat.

As you can see below, Coaches Hot Seat has Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly as the number one coach in College Football with a target on his back. There is a lot of preseason hype backing up the Fighting Irish, but it always seem that way as we head into the season.

Besides the creative collage of headshots, the site also has a blog and other interesting statistical information such as salaries and records for head coaches. There is also a winningest active coaches page, which displays the coaches with the best winning percentages.

Interestingly, Buffalo’s Lance Leipold is in 3rd with a .835 winning percentage. He is behind Ohio State’s Urban Meyer at #1, and Texas’ Tom Herman at #2.

You’ll surely leave this site with something new to think about when it comes to college coaches. It also may be a good resource when you are looking to preview some upcoming teams with new coaches.

Football Scoop: Football Scoop has ‘the scoop’ on a daily basis, with a section dedicated to daily updates on not only Division I coaching changes and opportunities, but also Division II and Division III.

There is even a ‘High School Scoop’, and ‘Strength Scoop’ sections. In these sections, you can get the latest news for High School coaching changes and openings. Inside the strength section you can also come across job openings and the latest news.

Football Scoop also has a podcast and an ‘Athletic Department Scoop’, which really gives their audience a wide range of content to choose from.
